SYNOPSIS topols [ PLACE_NAME ] [-st STATE_ABBREVIATION ] [-co COUNTY ] [-pt PLACE_TYPE ] [-m MATCH_TYPE] DESCRIPTION topols provides commandline access to the USGS topographic maps (hosted at Topozone.com) by returning a list of search results that includes information such as the County, State, Type [of Place], Elevation, USGS Quad [sheet], Latitude and Longitude. Use of the other parameters is optional, but helps to narrow down the results for common place names. Example: topols -st MI -co Oceana -pt Lake Result: Lists information for lakes in the state of Michigan, Oceana county. Example: topols Sierra -m 1 Result: Lists place names beginning with Sierra. NOTES Place names are not case sensitive, but state, county, and place-type parameters are. The match parameter has a default value of 0 for exact match. Values of 1 and 2 can be used to do "begins with" or "contains" queries respectively. SEE ALSO http://www.topozone.com/help.asp http://www.usps.com/ncsc/lookups/usps_abbreviations.html AUTHOR Paul M.
